Newland & Newland, LLP Wins Prestigious BBB Accreditation Award

Our team at Newland & Newland, LLP is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Better Business Bureau's Certificate of Accreditation. Our accreditation period began in June 2018 and will continue through May 2020. We plan to continue providing top notch legal services to our clients and continuing to be BBB certified for years to come.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) awards its Certificate of Accreditation to companies that exhibit its eight standards for trust. These are:

  • Building trust;
  • Being transparent;
  • Advertising honestly;
  • Telling the truth;
  • Honoring promises;
  • Being responsive;
  • Embodying integrity; and
  • Safeguarding privacy.

We were certified in recognition of our hard work in personal injury law, real estate law, and bankruptcy law.

Criteria for the Award

Although the BBB's eight standards for trust can seem fairly simple to achieve, each is comprised of numerous criteria a company must meet. For example, in order to meet the BBB's criteria for “advertising honestly,” a company must do the following:

  • Adhere to the BBB's Code of Advertising;
  • Follow federal, state, and local advertising laws;
  • Adhere to applicable BBB industry advertising requirements;
  • Cooperate with BBB self-regulatory programs for resolving disputes that arise from advertising errors;
  • Only use the BBB name and logos in accordance with its policies for doing so; and
  • Avoid misleading customers. This includes avoiding false statements of sponsorship, trustworthiness, popularity, endorsements, business size, or product quality. It applies to the use of testimonials, pictures, logos, trustmarks, and all other means of advertising.

Our Past Case Successes

We would not be a BBB-accredited firm without a strong record of case successes. A few of our notable successes include:

  • A $700,000 settlement for a client with a work-related rotator cuff injury;
  • $300,000 medical malpractice claim for patient who was not properly secured in bed;
  • $120,000 for a celiac disease patient whose condition was aggravated by a bout of food poisoning;
  • $1,400,000 for a driver who suffered a herniated disc and aggravated degenerative conditions after being involved in a rear end car accident;
  • A $65,000 settlement for a five-year-old who suffered a scarred face from a dog bite;
  • A $450,000 real estate purchase in Elk Grove;
  • $300,000 for a patient who suffered an injury from a defective medical product; and
  • $240,000 for the family of a victim who was crushed to death by granite.
